Put an agent behind a real phone number

A voice agent needs a number before it needs anything else. Connect one in the dashboard and choose which agent answers it.

What this is for

Before an agent can answer anything it needs a number to answer on. Callers should reach it the way they reach any business line, with nothing new to learn.

Getting an agent onto a number

  1. 01

    Connect a number

Connect a phone number to your account from the dashboard. What is available depends on the region your account is in.

  2. 02

    Point it at an agent

A number routes to whichever agent you choose, so you can run different agents on different lines, or one agent everywhere.

  3. 03

    Change it any time

Move a number to a different agent whenever you like. Callers keep dialling the same number.

  4. 04

    Or skip numbers entirely

Agents also take and place calls in the browser over WebRTC, with no number involved. Useful for testing, and for calls that start on your website.

Put an agent behind a real phone number: common questions

How does an agent get a phone number?

You connect a phone number to the agent in the dashboard. Which numbers are available depends on the region your account is in.

Can one agent answer several numbers?

Yes, and one number can route to different agents depending on the flow. Which number was dialled is available as a branch.

Can I test without a number at all?

Agents run in the browser over WebRTC, so you can hear a flow end to end before any number is involved.

Is a number available in my country?

Availability depends on the region. Woise runs regional cells, and what you can take varies by which one your account sits in.
