Knowledge
Upload the documents your agent should answer from, and attach them to the nodes that need them.
A knowledge base document is a file owned by your organization — a price list, a policy, a product manual — that an Agent Node can retrieve from mid-call. It is the alternative to pasting content into a prompt, and the right choice whenever the content is longer than the answer or changes more often than the workflow.
Uploading a document
Documents are uploaded from the Files page.
- Formats: PDF, Word (
.doc,.docx), plain text (.txt) and Markdown (.md). - Size: up to 5 MB per file.
- Retrieval mode: chosen at upload, per document.
The two retrieval modes decide how much of the document reaches the model:
- Full document hands the whole file over on every retrieval. Right for short reference material — a menu, a price list, a one-page FAQ.
- Chunked search splits the file into passages and retrieves only the passages relevant to what the caller asked. Right for anything too long to hand over whole — manuals, policies, terms.
Duplicates are detected by content, not by filename. The second upload is marked failed with a message naming the file it duplicates, so a re-uploaded policy can never end up competing with its own earlier copy. Delete the older document first if you meant to replace it.
What processing does
After upload the file is parsed, then — in chunked mode — split into passages and indexed for retrieval.
There is no fixed duration for this; it depends on the document's length and format. A document is not retrievable until processing finishes, and the Files page shows its status the whole way through, with the error message attached if it fails. Check the status there before you rely on a document in a live call.
Using a document from a workflow
Attach a finished document to an Agent Node through its Knowledge Base Documents setting. The
model then retrieves from it while running that node — the same shape as a tool call, except
the lookup is into your content rather than out to another system.
Attach documents to the node that needs them rather than to every node. A node that can reach four unrelated manuals answers from the wrong one eventually.

Common questions
What is Woise?
Woise lets you build AI agents that answer and make phone calls and chat on your website. You lay out the conversation on a visual canvas, try it in your browser, then connect it to a phone number.
Do I need a phone number to start?
No. You can build and test an agent in the browser without one. When you are ready, connect a phone number and choose which agent answers it.
How does billing work?
You pay for the minutes your agents use, from your credit balance. There are no seat fees and no per-agent fees, so an agent that is not taking calls costs nothing.
Which languages can an agent speak?
Agents can listen and speak in more than 40 languages, including English, Spanish, Hindi, Tamil and Arabic. You pick the language and the voice for each agent.
Can an agent connect to my CRM or calendar?
Yes. An agent can look things up and make changes in 26 apps, such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Google Calendar, Slack and WhatsApp, while the caller is still on the line. You connect each app once.
Do I need engineers to build an agent?
No. Everything is built in a visual editor, so you can create and change an agent without writing code. If your team prefers code, there is also a REST API and an MCP server.
What happens to call recordings and transcripts?
Every call keeps a transcript and its outcome, and audio is only recorded if you turn it on. Only people in your account can see your calls, and your account lives in the region you chose when you signed up.
What do I have to set up or run?
None. We run the speech, the language models, the recordings and the phone connections, and scale them with your call volume. There is nothing for you to set up or keep running.
